What you will do
- Develop a practical assessment framework for Best Available Technology (BAT) in deep-sea mining, emphasizing technology analysis.
- Enable qualitative and quantitative comparisons of mining technology concepts.
- Test the framework on case studies for polymetallic nodules and seafloor massive sulphide deposits.
- Collaborate closely with partners from NIOZ, NTNU, and the MiningImpact3 project team.
- Contribute engineering perspective to environmental impact studies and governance frameworks.
Requirements
- PhD in mechanical engineering, maritime/ocean engineering, civil engineering, mining engineering or related field.
- Solid background in fluid mechanics, offshore applications and/or systems design.
- Experience with design of complex coupled systems, preferably in maritime/offshore environment.
- Enthusiastic, independent, team player with strong communication skills in multidisciplinary settings.
