What you will do

• Lead the technical design of AI features, including MCP integrations, agent workflows, and context management.
• Prototype and ship core AI components hands-on as a technical leader.
• Provide technical guidance and review architectural approaches to help the team adopt AI technologies.
• Evaluate and select emerging AI tools, frameworks, and providers for pragmatic integration.
• Collaborate with product managers and ML engineers to translate product ideas into technical plans.
• Integrate IntelliJ Platform capabilities, such as type inference and inspections, into AI workflows.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering experience in Python and/or Kotlin/JVM.
• Deep hands-on familiarity with AI coding assistants, agents, MCP, and LLM-based workflows.
• Experience delivering significant changes within large, mature codebases.
• Knowledge of LLM evaluation and benchmarking techniques.
• Ability to make architectural decisions in ambiguous, fast-moving domains.
• Must be based in or eligible to relocate to one of the supported European locations.

Nice to have

• Experience with IDE internals, such as language servers or code analysis systems.
• Familiarity with the Python AI/ML ecosystem.
