TL;DR

Senior Corporate Counsel, Employment (Fintech): Leading and advising on employee relations and corporate matters across Canada and the US with an accent on labor law compliance and risk management. Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Hybrid: Required to be in office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday

Salary: $146,000 - $183,000 CAD annually

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to HR and leadership on employment relations in Canada and the US.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate employment contracts and settlement agreements.
  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide employment policies and regional handbooks.
  • Manage employment-related litigation, mediation, and arbitration.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving employment laws and regulatory landscapes.
  • Build and scale legal frameworks for international expansion.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor or Canadian LL.B./J.D. equivalent.
  • 7+ years of experience in private practice or in-house at fast-growing or publicly traded companies.
  • Proven experience in employment litigation (wrongful dismissal, human rights complaints).
  • Strong ability to influence C-suite and senior leadership stakeholders.
  • Deep expertise in Canada and US employment law.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of UK, Dutch, or Israeli employment law.
  • Experience with equity compensation and employee benefit plans, including stock option laws.
