TL;DR

Senior Hardware Compliance Engineer (Hardware Compliance): Leading regulatory and compliance efforts across the hardware portfolio with an accent on end-to-end strategy and execution for new product introductions. Focus on managing global certifications (FCC, CE, SAR), debugging compliance failures, and ensuring safety and environmental standards.

Location: On-site in Boston, MA. Must be prepared to relocate if necessary

Salary: $135,000 - $185,000

What you will do

  • Own and execute the hardware compliance strategy for new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement (CI) projects.
  • Plan, coordinate, and run compliance testing including FCC, ISED, CE (EMC, RF), Safety (IEC/UL), and SAR/RF exposure.
  • Manage relationships with external test labs and certification bodies.
  • Drive pre-compliance testing and debug issues early in development to reduce risk.
  • Translate global regulatory requirements into clear engineering specifications.
  • Maintain technical documentation for certifications and support design changes across the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in hardware compliance, regulatory engineering, or product certification.
  • Deep knowledge of FCC, CE, and global regulatory frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience running EMC/RF testing, SAR, and certification processes.
  • Ability to debug compliance failures and collaborate on hardware design improvements.
  • Must be based in or be able to relocate to the Boston, MA office.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of battery safety standards (IEC 62133, UN38.3).
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations such as RoHS and REACH.
  • Experience supporting global market launches.
