Senior Forward Deployed Accountant (AI)

Location: United States / San Francisco, California. Remote workplace with travel to customer sites as needed, up to 60%.

What you will do

• Architect, deploy, and operationalize AI Agents that automate complex accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and accelerate financial workflows.
• Lead transformation engagements with enterprise accounting teams, diagnosing bottlenecks and identifying automation opportunities.
• Guide CFOs, Controllers, and accounting stakeholders through workflow redesign, change management, adoption, and value realization.
• Troubleshoot integrations, data flows, automation logic, Python scripts, SQL validations, APIs, and configuration issues.
• Partner with Customer Success, Account Management, Product, Engineering, and Sales teams to recover at-risk accounts and influence the product roadmap.
• Provide oversight and quality assurance for implementation partners and lead customer deployment, training, and adoption workshops.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in accounting, auditing, controllership, or finance consulting, including Accounting Manager or Controller experience.
• Background in accounting or finance with a deep understanding of core accounting operations; CPA or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience evaluating, designing, and deploying workflow or process automation in accounting or finance environments.
• Working knowledge of SQL, APIs, data flows, integrations, data pipelines, and automation workflows.
• Ability to lead working sessions with Controllers, Accounting Managers, or RevOps teams and translate complex problems into actionable solutions.
• Ability to travel for customer engagements, onsite configuration, training, and adoption workshops; travel may reach 60%.

Nice to have

• CPA or a degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience with professional services, finance transformation, process optimization, ERP systems, and accounting close processes.
• Familiarity with LLM-based agents, RPA tools, AI workflow builders, Python or JavaScript scripting.
• Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Resident Consultant, Embedded Solutions Architect, or similar role.
• Experience maintaining SQL-based reporting and configuring API integrations between finance or operational systems.
