Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Warsaw, Poland; hybrid

What you will do

• Build and operate the platform behind Snowflake AI Functions, from design and implementation through rollout and production support.
• Develop infrastructure for large-scale AI inference directly from SQL without moving customer data out of the platform.
• Design architectures for multimodal inference and support input data beyond plain text.
• Improve throughput, cost efficiency, reliability, observability, and failure recovery as customer usage grows.
• Work with research, product, and engineering partners to shape product strategy.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and communicate complex results to leadership.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building production backend or distributed systems in C++, Java, Go, Python, or a comparable language.
• BSc in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, or another technical field.
• Experience designing and operating high-throughput services with concurrency, backpressure, partial failures, and observability.
• Experience designing service or RPC APIs such as REST or gRPC.
• Experience with software engineering practices including testing, version control, CI/CD, containers, and agile development.
• Ability to independently turn ambiguous problems into scoped, testable designs and collaborate effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL engines, query execution, or other large-scale data systems.
• Hands-on MLOps experience, such as deploying machine learning models.
• MSc or PhD in a technical field.
