Senior Manager, Software Engineering- Core (FED) (SaaS): Leading a distributed team to build and evolve shared infrastructure and backend frameworks for a global identity platform with an accent on resilience, scalability, and multi-tenancy. Focus on managing cross-team projects, developing core services like search and cache, and driving the strategic roadmap for the engineering organization.
Location: Hybrid (San Francisco, CA) — requires 2 days a week in office. Must establish U.S. Person status (Citizen, National, Lawful Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee).
Salary: $232,000 — $290,000 USD

What you will do
- Manage a distributed team, overseeing hiring, recruitment, coaching, and career management.
- Collaborate with architects and product owners to implement resilience best practices and define strategic roadmaps.
- Develop and scale backend frameworks and shared tools for the entire engineering organization.
- Operate and upgrade core shared services including search, cache, and configuration management.
- Coordinate cross-team projects with high business impact and drive the rollout of new services.
- Participate in the incident RCA process to continuously improve system reliability and scale.
Requirements
- Prior experience managing distributed and diverse engineering teams.
- Expertise in software architecture across the stack, including microservices and monolithic applications.
- Solid understanding of the Java platform and experience with SaaS.
- Experience with Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containers (Docker, K8s).
- Proficiency with various datastores (SQL, NoSQL, Key/Value).
- Must be a U.S. Person to access federal environments and protected federal data.

- Experience with Golang.
- Knowledge of network security, authentication, and authorization.
