Product Interface Engineer (Automotive)

TL;DR

Product Interface Engineer (Automotive): Acting as the primary liaison between Manufacturing Engineering Body and Product Engineering to ensure designs are driven by manufacturing needs with an accent on global inter-buildability and static quality. Focus on aligning product designs with Lean manufacturing principles, managing engineering changes for Body-In-White, and resolving complex integration issues throughout the GVDP lifecycle.

Location: Hybrid; must report to Warren, Michigan at least three times per week

What you will do

• Collaborate with Product Engineering to incorporate Manufacturing Requirements (MRs) and Best Practices (BPs) into design releases.
• Ensure product designs support dimensional strategies (CDLS/Hole to Hole/ABC Metrics) and global interbuildability.
• Develop and execute Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and manage Manufacturing Concept Sheets and Study Requests.
• Manage Engineering Change Management (ECM) processes that impact Body-In-White (BIW).
• Coordinate and track material orders for tooling integration and Manufacturing Validation Events.
• Support the Issue Resolution Team (IRT) and Vehicle Dimensional Quality Manager to drive nominal body development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience.
• At least 4 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• High level of oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical abilities to solve complex problems.
• Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
• Ability to travel locally as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience in Body-In-White (BIW) tool design and build.
• Proficiency in TeamCenter and VisMockup.
• Familiarity with math-based processes and GMNA standards.
• Knowledge of Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) and related deliverables.
