What you will do

• Lead material analysis investigations and develop metallurgical testing plans.
• Create technical reports and effectively communicate results to internal customers.
• Provide technical support to metallurgical laboratory operations and ensure compliance for ISO 17025 certifications.
• Resolve issues regarding design or manufacturing to ensure design acceptance and readiness.
• Participate in the adoption of new technologies, including automation and robotics, to improve efficiency and quality.
• Plan and improve testing procedures to make operations more reliable and cost-effective.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Decatur, IL for onsite work (5 days/week).
• Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
• Proficiency in Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and analytical thinking for root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and product testing strategies.
• Experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.

Nice to have

• 2 or more years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience with ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation and metrological traceability.
• Ability to use statistical analysis to quantify process performance.
• In-depth understanding of ASTM specifications for ferrous metals (tensile, Charpy impact, hardness, and spectroscopy).
