TL;DR
Metallurgical Engineer (Manufacturing): Conducting failure and metallurgical analysis for a wide variety of components with an accent on design support and development for a diverse customer portfolio. Focus on leading material analysis investigations, developing testing plans, and ensuring manufacturing readiness.
Location: Onsite 5 days a week in Decatur, IL. Domestic relocation assistance available. Visa sponsorship is NOT available.

What you will do
- Lead material analysis investigations and develop metallurgical testing plans.
- Create technical reports and effectively communicate results to internal customers.
- Provide technical support to metallurgical laboratory operations and ensure compliance for ISO 17025 certifications.
- Resolve issues regarding design or manufacturing to ensure design acceptance and readiness.
- Participate in the adoption of new technologies, including automation and robotics, to improve efficiency and quality.
- Plan and improve testing procedures to make operations more reliable and cost-effective.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Must be based in or be able to relocate to Decatur, IL for onsite work (5 days/week).
- Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
- Proficiency in Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and analytical thinking for root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and product testing strategies.
- Experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
Nice to have
- 2 or more years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience with ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation and metrological traceability.
- Ability to use statistical analysis to quantify process performance.
- In-depth understanding of ASTM specifications for ferrous metals (tensile, Charpy impact, hardness, and spectroscopy).
