TL;DR
Engineering Lead (Payroll): Hire and lead a diverse team of Frontend and Backend Engineers to build an end-to-end Payroll product from scratch with an accent on technical design, scalable architecture, and continuous delivery. Focus on partnering with Product to execute roadmap, driving microservices development, and fostering global collaboration for high-impact features.
Fully remote role, must be physically located in EST timezone and work EST hours Monday-Friday. US, United States.
Base salary: $200,000 - $230,000 per year.

What you will do
- Hire, lead, and develop a high-performing Engineering team aligned with product vision and business goals.
- Partner with Product to build and execute the Payroll roadmap.
- Drive technical excellence: own dev cycle from design, coding, testing, to deployment and monitoring.
- Manage continuous delivery with automated QA on microservices, deploying frequently to production.
- Foster collaboration across global teams including CX, UX, Infrastructure, and other dev teams.
- Build a strong feedback culture to optimize outcomes.
Requirements
- 7+ years in software engineering with strong backend background; pass Senior Backend live coding interview.
- 3+ years leading, growing, and mentoring Engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
- Experience in Payroll, Benefits, HR, Payments domains or similar.
- Excellent knowledge of software design and scalable web architecture.
- Experience with SaaS products on cloud platforms like AWS.
- Strong leadership skills to build winning teams; independent and proactive.
Nice to have
- Experience developing a product from scratch.
- Experience with Kotlin, Scala, or Java.
- Both Backend and Frontend development experience.
