TL;DR

Senior Knitwear Designer: Translating customer briefs into knitwear and accessory collections with an accent on commercial viability, cost-effective manufacturing, and quality standards. Focus on developing prototypes, managing production samples, and sourcing yarns and trimmings.

Location: Onsite in Hawick, UK. Must have legal right to work in the UK.

Family-owned Scottish luxury clothing brand with 225 years of experience producing cashmere and fine woollens in vertical mills.

What you will do

  • Manage key customer accounts, interpret briefs, and develop seasonal knitwear collections.
  • Advise on manufacturing methods that balance commercial needs, cost, and quality.
  • Apply expertise in yarns, gauges, stitch structures, and production techniques.
  • Liaise with technicians and teams to produce prototypes, samples, and ensure delivery timelines.
  • Prepare spec sheets, sketches, CAD plans, and archive collections.
  • Source yarns and trimmings; visit customers and attend meetings as required.

Requirements

  • Legal right to work in the UK and ability to provide evidence.
  • Technical knitwear knowledge with minimum 3 years industry experience after relevant degree.
  • Excellent IT skills in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Confident communicator passionate about high-quality delivery.
  • Flexible approach, enthusiasm to learn new skills; travel required including overnights.
