What you will do
- Lead system definition for spacecraft capabilities intersecting flight software, behavior, and fault management.
- Manage system, software, and operational requirements with clear traceability from architecture through verification.
- Act as the primary systems engineering interface to the flight software team to clarify intent and review implementations.
- Define FDIR concepts, including fault detection logic, recovery strategies, and safing behavior.
- Lead FMECA analyses to identify failure modes, single-point failures, and mitigation strategies.
- Develop verification strategies and partner with V&V teams to ensure sufficient test coverage.
Requirements
- Must be based in or able to relocate to Toronto, Canada.
- 7+ years of experience in spacecraft systems engineering, avionics, or software-facing systems engineering.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, or Software Engineering.
- Deep expertise in flight software systems engineering or FDIR/FMECA-driven architecture.
- Proven experience owning and managing complex spacecraft functional requirements.
- Ability to define CONOPS and translate them into actionable technical requirements.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with ECSS or NASA frameworks and aerospace standards.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools or agentic AI workflows to support engineering processes.
- Proficiency with Python, Matlab, or test automation tools.
- Experience with LEOP, commissioning, or on-orbit operational support.
