What you will do

• Underwrite conventional and government loans (FHA, VA).
• Provide guidance and solutions for complex underwriting scenarios and escalations to the team and branches.
• Manage a team of five to ten individuals, providing ongoing mentoring and coaching.
• Monitor the underwriting pipeline to ensure productivity and strict adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
• Perform second-level reviews and manage critical department reports.
• Collaborate with operations and sales staff to maintain a high level of customer service.

Requirements

• Direct Endorsement status from HUD and/or SAR authority from VA.
• 5+ years of Mortgage Underwriting experience (FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional).
• 3+ years of experience in underwriting management.
• Strong working knowledge of ATR/QM requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Comprehensive knowledge of compliance and disclosure requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with Encompass LOS.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with USDA loans.
