What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of underwriters, providing training and support to enhance overall performance.
• Oversee daily operations to maximize productivity and meet underwriting turn times and SLAs.
• Monitor team performance and conduct regular reviews with measurable goals.
• Ensure underwriting quality through consistent checks and compliance with regulatory and company guidelines.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex or high-risk loan files and support second-level reviews.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and mortgage standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• 3+ years of management experience in mortgage operations.
• Experience with wholesale underwriting.
• Proficiency with Encompass LOS.
• DE/CHUMS and LAPP/SARS certifications required.
• Knowledge of conventional, VA, FHA, USDA, and Non-QM loan products.
