Project Architect / Architect IV-T - Higher Education

Location: Chicago, IL, US; hybrid work model with regular in-office days and travel to project sites

Salary: $110,000–$170,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead architectural planning and coordination for medium-to-large higher education projects.
• Create and manage Discipline Work Plans with Project Managers.
• Develop coordinated construction documents and ensure technical clarity, code compliance, and quality.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, and production teams across project milestones.
• Manage permitting and regulatory reviews with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
• Lead construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, field reports, contractor coordination, and potential Architect of Record responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Architecture from a four-year program.
• Professional architecture licensure required.
• At least 10 years of professional experience with a technical delivery focus.
• Proficiency in BIM/Revit, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Experience managing construction document sets, consultant coordination, and delegated assignments.
• Experience with higher education sector typologies and related construction types.

Nice to have

• NCARB certification.
• LEED accreditation or another sustainability credential.
• Experience with Revizto for 3-D coordination.
• Experience with UpCodes and RIB Speclink.
