What you will do

• Lead all U.S. export control matters under ITAR, EAR, and OFAC sanctions regulations.
• Manage export licenses, TAA/MLA filings, and commodity jurisdiction (CJ) determinations.
• Oversee U.S. customs and import compliance, including HTS classification, tariff strategy, and CBP data analysis.
• Develop and maintain export compliance policies, screening protocols, and training programs.
• Supervise and provide professional development for two trade compliance professionals.
• Partner with the German parent company's legal and compliance teams to ensure global alignment.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in U.S. import/export and trade compliance.
• Experience at a large law firm or as in-house counsel for a U.S. defense contractor or aerospace company.
• Deep expertise in ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions, and CBP customs law.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing personnel or compliance teams.
• Must reside in the US and have US citizenship.
