Corporate Counsel

TL;DR

Corporate Counsel (Autonomous Vehicles): Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and supplier agreements while designing compliance programs for AV operations with an accent on regulatory affairs, data privacy, safety, and product liability. Focus on advising cross-functional teams, monitoring evolving AV regulations, and supporting corporate transactions and risk management.

Location: Remote (US; J.D. from accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar required)

Salary: $180,000 - $220,000 USD

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial, supplier, software licensing, and partnership agreements; develop templates and playbooks
• Design and maintain compliance programs for data privacy, safety, regulatory obligations, and governance
• Provide legal counsel to engineering, operations, business development, marketing, and HR teams
• Advise on federal, state, and local regulations for AV testing, deployment, and commercialization
• Manage outside counsel, monitor laws on AVs, privacy, and employment; deliver training programs
• Support corporate transactions, equity matters, and board activities

Requirements

• J.D. from accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
• 5–8 years legal experience including law firm and in-house (technology, automotive, or mobility preferred)
• Experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating complex commercial/supplier agreements
• Experience developing/managing compliance programs or policies
• Expertise in regulatory affairs, safety/product liability, data privacy (CCPA, GDPR), or employment law
• Strong business judgment, communication skills for non-legal audiences

Nice to have

• Experience in AV, automotive, robotics, or transportation tech
• Familiarity with NHTSA, FMVSS, state AV laws
• Data privacy in connected/AV context (geolocation, telematics)
• Government affairs or regulatory agency experience
• High-growth company support (Series C/D+)
• Privacy certifications (CIPP/US, CIPP/E)
