Head of AI & Software (Web/Enterprise/AI): Directing a distributed development team executing 50+ concurrent projects across manufacturing, staffing, and investment companies with an accent on team leadership, portfolio management, and technical architecture. Focus on setting engineering standards, prioritizing backlogs, reviewing pull requests, and integrating AI-augmented development tools.

Location: Global remote position. Requires at least 4 hours of overlap with U.S. Central Time each day. Minimal travel, with occasional U.S. travel for leadership offsites.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of developers across multiple time zones, conducting one-on-ones, performance reviews, and recruiting.
• Own a backlog of 50+ projects, prioritizing, scoping, and sequencing work with clear milestones and weekly delivery updates.
• Review architectures, approve technical decisions, stay hands-on with code, and ensure security, performance, and reliability standards.
• Drive adoption of AI tools, automation platforms, and modern build patterns across the portfolio.
• Collaborate with operating company leaders, stakeholders, vendors, and train business users on new applications.

Requirements

• Fluency in English; written and verbal proficiency (B2 level minimum on CEFR scale)
• At least 4 hours daily overlap with U.S. Central Time
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent).
• 10+ years professional software development experience; 4+ years leading distributed teams of 5+ developers.
• Strong technical depth in modern web (React, TypeScript, Tailwind) and backend (Node.js, PostgreSQL, Supabase or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of enterprise platforms (NetSuite preferred, Salesforce, SAP, etc.); project/program management discipline.
• Experience with async-first teams and strong documentation standards; hands-on with AI-assisted tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot).

Nice to have

• Experience with automation platforms (n8n, Workato, Zapier, Make).
• Prior experience in manufacturing, staffing, financial services, or multi-entity holding companies.
