CLI Team Lead (TypeScript)

CLI Team Lead (TypeScript): Guide technical direction and team execution for hirify.global CLI and local development workflows across Windows, Linux, and macOS with an accent on architecture, reliability, and cross-platform compatibility. Focus on driving RFCs, design reviews, hands-on implementation, and scaling the team from 3 to 6 engineers.

What you will do

• Lead the CLI/Local Experience team, including coaching, 1:1s, goal setting, performance reviews, and promotion recommendations.
• Own team hiring plan and run full hiring loop for CLI roles.
• Drive technical strategy through RFCs, design reviews, and iterative delivery.
• Contribute directly to TypeScript implementation focusing on architecture, reliability, and maintainability.
• Ensure technical excellence in code quality, test coverage, release readiness, and backwards compatibility.
• Unblock engineers, improve workflows, and partner with PM and engineering leadership on roadmap priorities.
• Monitor customer feedback, OSS issues, and usage signals to enhance local development experience.

Requirements

• 5+ years software engineering experience, including command-line developer tools
• Strong TypeScript experience shipping production-grade CLI tooling
• Prior experience leading engineers with people management in distributed async environment
• Deep understanding of cross-platform concerns: filesystem, subprocesses, terminal UX across macOS/Linux/Windows
• Experience designing intuitive CLIs with clear structure, helpful output, and error messaging
• Testing strategy for CLIs (unit, integration, end-to-end) and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with release/versioning, backwards compatibility, Docker, and Postgres workflows
• Collaborate effectively in async distributed teams via clear written communication
