UX Content Designer/Writer (Consumer Audio)

Location: Hybrid work in Owings Mills, Maryland, or Carlsbad, California, USA; flexibility to come into the office on short notice may be required. Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Salary: $78,750–$115,500 per year, depending on skills, experience, training, location, and business needs.

What you will do

• Define end-to-end content strategy and localization requirements for digital products and platforms.
• Establish product narratives, voice and tone frameworks, terminology standards, glossaries, governance models, and reusable content components.
• Write and edit microcopy, onboarding flows, error states, transactional messages, navigation labels, and system content.
• Audit and improve product content across multiple languages to increase clarity, consistency, and comprehension.
• Collaborate with UX design, research, engineering, product management, legal, compliance, marketing, and customer operations.
• Use user research, usability testing, Figma, and component-based design environments to validate and implement content.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in UX content strategy, content design, and UX writing for consumer electronics products, apps, or user guides.
• Portfolio demonstrating the ability to simplify complex subject matter into concise in-product content and microcopy.
• Experience defining content strategy and information architecture for multi-step workflows and product ecosystems.
• Expert proficiency with Figma and modern design systems, plus experience with CMS, translation tools such as Lokalize, and scalable content models.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder communication, accessibility knowledge, and plain-language skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid office environment in Owings Mills, Maryland, or Carlsbad, California, and to complete a background investigation and drug screen.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI writing tools and translation platforms.
• Experience designing content for mobile apps connected to networked hardware.
• Knowledge of global localization workflows, terminology management, and regulatory or compliance-driven content.
• Familiarity with iOS and Android platform constraints.
• Experience in technically complex or hardware-connected environments and passion for consumer audio products.
