TL;DR

Director of Engineering (Fintech): Setting engineering direction and building high-performing, product-aligned teams for a leading investment platform with an accent on secure, reliable, and innovative digital experiences. Focus on defining engineering strategy, evolving Agile models, and driving operational excellence through AI and automation.

Location: Hybrid in Manchester, UK (minimum 50% of working time spent in the office each month)

What you will do

  • Set the engineering vision and translate business strategy into a measurable roadmap and operating plan.
  • Coach engineering leaders and build high-performing teams to create speed, ownership, and quality.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and senior stakeholders to align priorities and accelerate outcomes.
  • Own delivery outcomes across multiple teams, removing blockers and improving predictability.
  • Modernize engineering practices using AI, automation, and DevOps to shorten cycle times.
  • Ensure services are reliable, secure, and compliant with regulatory adherence.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams in complex environments.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, DevOps, CI/CD, and automated testing.
  • Experience shaping technology strategy and managing multiple teams.
  • Ability to engage at the Board level and explain complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Must be based in or able to work from Manchester, UK (hybrid).

Nice to have

  • Experience within FCA regulated financial services.
  • Technical expertise in .NET, Angular, React, Vue, AWS, microservices, and APIs.
