EMC Expert

TL;DR

EMC Expert (Automotive): Design, validate, and verify electromagnetic compatibility for automotive electronic systems with an accent on emissions, immunity, ESD, and surge testing. Focus on analyzing standards, performing simulations, executing pre-compliance tests, and resolving EMC issues through root cause analysis and countermeasures.

Location: Hybrid in Bucharest, Romania (office and remote). Willingness to travel occasionally.

What you will do

• Analyze EMC standards, OEM requirements, and specifications.
• Support EMC concept definition in schematic and PCB layout phases.
• Perform EMC simulations and risk assessments at board and system levels.
• Plan and execute pre-compliance and compliance testing (emissions, immunity, ESD, surge).
• Set up EMC test environments, operate lab equipment, and evaluate results.
• Conduct root cause analysis, implement countermeasures, and collaborate with hardware, mechanical, and system teams.
• Create test reports, documentation, and support design reviews and FMEAs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
• Several years in EMC design, testing, or validation for electronic systems.
• Solid understanding of EMC fundamentals and automotive standards (CISPR 25, ISO 11452, ISO 7637, IEC 61000-x).
• Hands-on with EMC equipment (spectrum analyzers, LISNs, oscilloscopes, antennas, probes).
• Ability to read schematics and PCB layouts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good English communication skills.

Nice to have

• EMC simulation tools (HFSS, CST, SIwave, LTspice).
• Automotive interfaces (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I²C).
• Experience with external test houses and certification bodies.
• iNARTE or comparable EMC certification.
