TL;DR

IT Project Manager SME - Public Health Terminologist (Public Health): Develop and implement solutions for integrating public health coding systems and standards such as LOINC, SNOMED, ICD-10, and FHIR with an accent on data exchange across clinical, laboratory, and epidemiological settings. Focus on mapping laboratory assays to vocabulary standards, providing data standards strategy for CDC terminology modernization, and improving data quality for surveillance.

Location: Remote anywhere within the U.S., including District of Columbia. Must be eligible to legally work in the United States and obtain Public Trust clearance.

What you will do

  • Design and implement terminology solutions for seamless integration of public health coding systems and standards.
  • Provide expert guidance on data standards strategy and modernization of terminology tooling at CDC.
  • Research and map complex laboratory assays to vocabulary standards for accurate data collection and surveillance.
  • Collaborate with development organizations to create and improve standards in public health informatics.
  • Analyze and enhance the quality of collected and produced data using advanced data science techniques.

Requirements

  • BA/BS or MA/MS in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or health informatics.
  • 10+ years as public health terminologist.
  • Experience with LOINC, SNOMED, ICD-10, USCDI+, FHIR, HL7 messaging, and vocabulary authoring.
  • Knowledge of data standards strategy, laboratory/surveillance nomenclature, and mapping assays to standards.
  • US work eligibility and ability to obtain/maintain Public Trust clearance; pass Federal Background Investigation.

Nice to have

  • Experience in state/local/federal public health environments or implementing standards for health/lab systems.
  • Data management/analysis with Excel, SQL, SAS, R, Python; PHINVADS; infectious disease surveillance/informatics.
