What you will do
- Evaluate product designs for production suitability and support lead time improvements/scrap reduction using continuous improvement methodologies.
- Design processes, procedures, manufacturing systems, work cells, production lines, jigs, and fixtures to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Lead transition from engineering design to manufacturing, develop routings/structures, and participate in design reviews applying Design for Manufacturing principles.
- Perform root cause analysis for process failures, non-conformances, and rejects; implement corrective actions and periodical process reviews.
- Optimize material flow, inventory, and facility layouts; investigate new techniques and act as change agent for process improvements.
Requirements
- Eligible to obtain Canadian government security clearance and work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects
- Degree in Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with significant manufacturing experience
- Experience as Manufacturing Engineer or similar in industrial environment
- Knowledge of product design/assembly applied to manufacturing processes
- Ability to estimate costs, production times, staffing; strong technical writing for work instructions
Nice to have
- LEAN, Six-Sigma, TQM, work measurement/standardization
- Aerospace/defense experience
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio), ERP systems (routings/BOM), 3D/2D CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD/MicroStation)
- Data analysis (Statistical Process Control), Engineering Change Control, interpreting drawings/schematics
- Lean Six Sigma certification
