What you will do

• Develop and optimize optical coating processes using PVD techniques, including electron beam evaporation, sputtering, and ion-assisted deposition.
• Own process recipes and control parameters to ensure stable and repeatable coating performance.
• Troubleshoot coating-related issues such as optical performance shifts, defects, and adhesion failures.
• Lead coating equipment projects from concept through vendor engagement, installation, and internal qualification.
• Analyze process, metrology, and test data to identify trends, reduce variation, and improve yield.
• Generate high-quality technical documentation, including engineering test plans, qualification reports, and process specifications.

Requirements

• Master’s degree with 1+ years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience in Materials Science, Physics, Optical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in optical thin-film coating, precision optics, or semiconductor manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with PVD coating systems (e-beam, sputtering, IAD).
• Proficiency in structured problem-solving frameworks such as FMEA, 8D, or DMAIC.
• Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology as defined by the United States Export Administration Regulations.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for data analysis, modeling, or automation.
• Experience with SPC, JMP, Minitab, or similar statistical analysis tools.
• Familiarity with optical metrology techniques (e.g., spectrophotometry, ellipsometry, surface inspection).
