What you will do
- Develop basic and detailed engineering for automation projects from technical proposal to final implementation.
- Perform software development for automated machines following company standards and procedures.
- Validate conceptual designs and automatic sequences using software simulation tools.
- Conduct commissioning and start-up activities in compliance with safety procedures and local regulations.
- Provide technical support to stabilize and correct recurrent problems on automated lines and cells.
- Maintain software backups and project documentation for all automated solutions.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation & Robotics, or a relevant technical field.
- 5–10 years of experience in a similar automation role or managing related projects.
- Strong understanding of Canadian manufacturing safety standards and procedures.
- Expertise in PLC programming and system integration using Rockwell Automation platforms (Studio 5000, Logix 5000, FactoryTalk).
- Experience with ABB industrial robots, including RAPID programming and integration.
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Rockwell PowerFlex and ABB motor drives.
Nice to have
- Experience working in a steel mill or metal manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Siemens PLC platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project.
