Electrical Engineering Technologist

TL;DR

Electrical Engineering Technologist: Assist in the design, development, build, and testing of electrical systems and components for naval defense solutions with an accent on electronics, schematics, and compliance. Focus on troubleshooting technical issues, conducting site inspections, and supporting installation and commissioning.

Location: Dartmouth, NS, Canada (onsite). Candidate must be capable of acquiring a NATO Reliability and Secret security clearance. Ability to work on Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR controlled articles required.

What you will do

• Assist in the design, development, build, and testing of electrical systems and components.
• Prepare and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of electrical equipment.
• Document project progress, prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Support installation, commissioning of electrical systems, and train technical staff.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
• 6+ years of industry experience.
• Ability to work on Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR controlled articles. Eligible for relevant security clearance.
• Capable of acquiring NATO Reliability and Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in electrical design, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts.
• Familiarity with electronic lab equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
• Experience testing and troubleshooting circuit cards.
• Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Soldering (IPC J-STD-001 certification preferred).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication skills, and willingness to travel within Canada, US, and overseas.
