Electrical Technician - High Voltage Lab

Location: Surrey, British Columbia, Canada; onsite, full-time laboratory role

What you will do

• Set up and carry out electrical tests on equipment, components, and cables under the supervision of an engineer or technologist.
• Perform laboratory measurements, follow established procedures, and record test results.
• Operate computers and test instruments; repair, maintain, and calibrate electrical testing equipment and tools.
• Build or modify test jigs and support structures for electrical tests.
• Specify and purchase materials and equipment for routine laboratory operations.
• Maintain safe, organized test facilities, log books, operating procedures, calibration records, and test files.

Requirements

• Certificate of Technology in Electronics, Electrical, Power, Telecommunications, Instrumentation, or Automation, preferably in a discipline related to the lab.
• Two years of related laboratory experience setting up and performing tests on electrical equipment, components, and cables.
• Knowledge of electrical analysis procedures, testing standards, quality assurance principles, instrumentation calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to modify test methods, demonstrate testing techniques, communicate effectively, and prepare basic reports.
• Basic knowledge of safety regulations, WHMIS, and MS Office applications.
• Maintain a Class 5 driver's licence in good standing; pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing is required because the role is safety sensitive.

Hiring process

• Applicants who do not meet the full experience requirements may be considered for the Electrical Testing Technologist 1 Trainee program.
• Applicable prior experience may receive partial credit toward the four-year trainee program.
