What you will do

• Coach and develop engineers to grow their skills and careers
• Collaborate with Heads of Role for guidance, mentorship, and technical direction
• Contribute to architecture, technical planning, and represent team needs
• Drive delivery by clearing blockers, improving processes, and ensuring projects land
• Align work with business goals through collaboration with Product Managers and stakeholders
• Build positive culture with autonomy, psychological safety, and accountability
• Monitor performance, morale, and delivery health; handle hiring, onboarding, and development

Requirements

• UK-based
• 4+ years software development experience, including 2+ years managing or leading engineers
• Track record guiding teams through full software development lifecycle
• Strong communication skills: clear, concise, human
• Lead with context, build trust and autonomy, no micromanaging
• Confidence in architectural discussions and strategic thinking
• Calm under pressure, pragmatic, with business and product impact understanding

Nice to have

• Understanding of Azure cloud hosting
• Knowledge of service-based architecture benefits and pitfalls
• Background in SaaS, fintech, or insurance
