TL;DR

Sr. Flight Control Law Engineer (Aerospace/Robotics): Designing, implementing, and testing flight control laws for automated aviation systems with an accent on autotaxi, auto-takeoff, and autoland phases. Focus on developing C/C++ flight software and Python simulation models to ensure system stability and certification.

Location: Must be based in the USA (due to U.S. export control laws). Options for Mountain View, CA, Seattle, WA, or Remote (with 20% travel).

Compensation: $200,000 – $300,000 + Equity

What you will do

  • Establish autoflight and flight control system requirements.
  • Design and analyze flight control laws from conceptual design through implementation and certification.
  • Develop simulation models to evaluate flight control system performance and stability.
  • Implement control laws and algorithms in C/C++ flight software.
  • Test flight software using simulation, Monte Carlo, hardware-in-loop, and flight tests.
  • Collaborate with Pilots and Operations teams to develop flight test plans and communicate design updates.

Requirements

  • MS in aerospace engineering, robotics, or an equivalent field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience developing and testing flight controls algorithms.
  • Experience with flight dynamics simulation and model identification.
  • Professional proficiency in C/C++ flight software and Python for data reduction and analysis.
  • Must be a U.S. person or have authorization to comply with U.S. export control laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

  • PhD in aerospace engineering, robotics, or a similar advanced degree.
  • Current pilot, instrument, or commercial ratings.
  • Experience with flight controls, autopilot, or flight management system certification.
