GNC Engineer (Spacecraft Attitude Control)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States. The role requires access to export-controlled information and is subject to U.S. export regulations. Hiring is currently available in selected U.S. states.

Salary: $140,000–$206,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement spacecraft attitude-control architectures and algorithms in embedded C++.
• Define requirements for ACS algorithms, hardware, and related systems, including technology roadmaps.
• Analyze and simulate mission-specific spacecraft performance.
• Support performance trending and anomaly resolution for on-orbit systems, including on-call duties.
• Plan, execute, and validate software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent hands-on GNC analysis and design experience, with 2+ years of professional experience for the degree pathway.
• Professional C++ software skills and expertise in Python, Julia, or MATLAB.
• Knowledge of control and optimization theory, including control stability analysis for flexible bodies.
• Experience with spacecraft ADCS/GNC subsystems, LEO attitude actuators, and sensors such as reaction wheels, magnetorquers, gyros, star trackers, and magnetometers.
• Strong communication, presentation, and coordination skills.
• Must meet applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements for access to controlled information, such as being a U.S. person or eligible to obtain the required authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience with low-jitter precision-pointing platforms, control moment gyros, and vibration isolation.
• Experience with spacecraft flight operations.
