Senior GNC Engineer (Spacecraft)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; availability to work in the San Jose location is required. Muon is registered and able to hire in AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, IA, ID, MD, MA, MI, MN, MO, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, VT, VA, and WA.

Salary: $155,000–$231,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Evaluate spacecraft attitude sensors and actuators against power, cost, performance, and concept-of-operations requirements.
• Characterize GNC hardware performance and interactions with software, electrical, and thermal systems.
• Build, validate, and improve simulation models for GNC components.
• Define and execute design verification, qualification, acceptance, and integrated system test plans.
• Support system integration, hardware-in-the-loop testing, vendor coordination, and product delivery.
• Monitor on-orbit GNC hardware performance, support anomaly resolution, and participate in on-call rotations as needed.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or applied physics, or equivalent hands-on GNC hardware experience.
• Familiarity with common spacecraft attitude sensor and actuator models.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Must be available to work in San Jose.
• Must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements for access to ITAR/EAR-controlled information. Eligibility may require U.S. person status, access without export authorization, or a reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required authorization.

• Hands-on experience building functional mechatronics projects.
