Описание вакансии

Текст:

TL;DR
Flight Sciences Engineer (eVTOL): Developing performance models, 6-DOF flight dynamics simulations, aerodynamic databases, and certification analyses for a hybrid-electric lift+cruise VTOL aircraft with an accent on performance trades, transition-corridor aeromechanics, and flight-test correlation. Focus on integrating propulsion, structures, controls, and flight-test data while defining loads, handling qualities, and power constraints across the operational envelope.

Location: Byron, California; hybrid workplace. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Company

hirify.global develops aerospace and logistics technology, including the hybrid-electric Chaparral lift+cruise VTOL aircraft for defense, commercial, and rapid-response applications.

What you will do

  • Own vehicle performance modeling across hover, transition, and cruise, including mission analysis, energy management, climb optimization, and range/endurance trades.
  • Build and maintain 6-DOF flight-dynamics models, aerodynamic databases, stability derivatives, trim analyses, and rotor-wing interaction models.
  • Support vehicle design trades involving outer mold line shaping, drag reduction, control-surface sizing, and flight-controls architecture.
  • Derive external flight loads, define limit and ultimate load cases with the structures team, support fatigue analysis, and contribute to aeroelastic models.
  • Plan flight tests, define instrumentation requirements, analyze post-flight data, and correlate measured performance with analytical predictions.
  • Develop simulation environments and certification documentation for envelope expansion, handling-qualities assessment, controls development, and V&V.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in flight sciences, vehicle performance, or flight dynamics.
  • Experience with energy-based methods, point-mass and full 6-DOF simulation, and power-required/available analysis.
  • Experience with aerodynamic databases, stability derivatives, flight simulation or loads analysis, and flight-test methods.
  • Strong Python and/or MATLAB programming skills for analysis, post-processing, and tool development.
  • Working proficiency with aerodynamic analysis tools from low-order methods through RANS CFD, plus clear technical communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with eVTOL, tiltrotor, or lift+cruise configurations and transition-corridor analysis.
  • Hybrid-electric propulsion performance modeling, battery-sizing trades, and BSFC/TSFC integration.
  • Rotor or propeller design, internal flows, aeroelasticity, or structural loads experience.
  • Handling-qualities assessment using ADS-33 or FAA/EASA equivalents.
  • Experience with JSBSim, Simulink/FlightGear, FAA Part 23 or Part 27, or EASA SC-VTOL certification.

Culture & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity ownership in a rapidly growing aerospace startup.
  • Comprehensive medical benefits, 401(k) with company contribution, and Roth IRA.
  • Free daily lunch provided onsite and flexible time off.
  • Three months of paid parental leave and an employee assistance program with 24/7 support.
  • High-impact environment with significant ownership, autonomy, career growth, and internal advancement opportunities.
  • Collaborative, inclusive workplace with reasonable accommodations and a focus on building aerospace and logistics technology.
