What you will do

• Own firmware projects end-to-end from concept and requirements through implementation and release.
• Lead firmware-side cybersecurity decisions, including cryptographic design, secure boot, and FOTA strategies.
• Develop high-quality C code for resource-constrained, MCU-based embedded systems.
• Conduct deep root cause investigations for complex issues across firmware, hardware, and system interactions.
• Define and evolve firmware interfaces in collaboration with electrical engineering, backend, and QA teams.
• Mentor junior engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on firmware development experience in MCU-based bare-metal systems.
• Strong proficiency in C for embedded systems.
• Experience working in a regulated industry (Medical device experience preferred).
• Working knowledge of embedded cybersecurity principles, including secure boot and key storage.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in San Francisco, CA.

Nice to have

• Experience with connected, wireless, or battery-powered devices (BLE, cellular).
• Experience developing embedded firmware using Zephyr RTOS.
• Familiarity with MISRA coding standards and peer code review practices.
• Experience with static and dynamic code analysis techniques.
• Knowledge of threat modeling and vulnerability response for medical devices.
