Mechanical Design Engineer: Develop and deliver mechanical concepts and preliminary designs for electric power solutions like gensets with an accent on acoustics, vibration, fluid dynamics, structures, and materials science. Focus on translating client requirements into technical solutions, providing engineering reasoning and calculations, and ensuring specification compliance while balancing product performance and constraints.
Location: Larne, County Antrim, United Kingdom. This position requires 4.5 days a week in the office.
Salary: £40,606 - £47,500 per annum (depending on experience)

What you will do
- Provide concept designs for gensets meeting client needs.
- Deliver technical knowledge with engineering reasoning and calculations.
- Undertake specification compliance activities, balancing client requirements, product performance, and engineering constraints.
- Ensure accurate recording and controlled issuance of documentation for concept design cost evaluation.
- Support early customer engagement and smooth handover to execution teams.
- Lead smaller electric power projects for the right candidate.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline, or demonstrable work-related experience.
- Prior experience in product design and development environment.
- Proficiency in Creo or similar 3D modelling software and ability to create/interpret engineering drawings per recognised standards.
- Knowledge of engineering principles in acoustics, vibration, fluid dynamics, structures, and materials science.
- Ability to translate client requirements into technical solutions based on site conditions and operational needs.
- Strong analytical thinking, managing multiple priorities, and effective communication with stakeholders.
