TL;DR

Intern, Power Electronics Engineer (Spring 2026/Summer 2026): Design, develop, and validate medium-voltage power electronics systems for grid-connected converters with an accent on power converter topologies, control strategies, and high-voltage hardware. Focus on modeling and simulation, component characterization, prototyping, bench testing, and lab measurements to ensure efficiency and reliability.

hirify.global is a startup building scalable power electronics hardware like inverters and rectifiers to connect renewables, storage, and loads to the grid.

What you will do

  • Support design and development of power conversion systems.
  • Assist in modeling and simulation of converter topologies and controls using MATLAB/Simulink or PLECS.
  • Contribute to component selection, circuit design, schematic capture, and hardware bring-up.
  • Characterize switching devices like IGBTs, SiC/GaN MOSFETs and magnetic components.
  • Participate in prototyping, bench testing, waveform analysis, thermal profiling, efficiency measurement, and EMC evaluation.
  • Document results and contribute to design reviews and team discussions.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field, with strong focus on power electronics.
  • Solid understanding of power electronics fundamentals, converter topologies, and switching devices.
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation tools like SPICE, LTspice, or PLECS.
  • Exposure to gate drivers, sensing circuits, and magnetic components.
  • Experience with basic lab equipment and hands-on lab work.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; ability to work independently in fast-paced team environment.

Nice to have

  • Prior internship, co-op, or research in power electronics.
  • Experience with power converter control systems.
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools like Altium or KiCad.
  • High-voltage safety practices.
  • Programming for test automation or control (Python, MATLAB, embedded C).
  • Interest in renewables, EVs, datacenter power, or industrial electrification.
