TL;DR
Senior Director, People (HR): Leading the strategy, planning, and execution of talent acquisition, engagement, and retention for a global yoga nonprofit with an accent on organizational design and inclusive culture. Focus on scaling the People function, coaching leadership, and ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws.
Location: Hybrid; Must be based in or near Arlington, Virginia (up to 70% onsite)
Salary: $155,000 – $175,000

What you will do
- Build and lead the People team, providing rich coaching and professional development.
- Oversee all HR subject areas including benefits, employer branding, and total rewards.
- Develop and execute short and long-term People strategies aligned with organizational values.
- Partner with leadership to shape and execute organizational design and structure.
- Integrate diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging objectives across all HR policies and systems.
- Ensure the organization meets federal, state, and local employment law requirements.
Requirements
- 12+ years of People experience, including 5+ years as a generalist and 5+ years as a business partner.
- 5+ years of experience successfully leading and coaching a team of HR professionals.
- Experience building engagement systems for talent populations distributed across the United States.
- Comprehensive knowledge of US employment laws and People compliance.
- Ability to work onsite in Arlington, Virginia up to three days a week.
- Proficiency with platforms such as BambooHR, Paychex, Culture Amp, or JazzHR.
Nice to have
- Experience working within an association or membership-driven environment.
- Advanced degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
