TL;DR
Customer Billing Advocate (Behavioral Health): Supporting billing teams by working with insurance companies to ensure efficient reimbursements for therapy sessions and pursuing outstanding A/R. Focus on managing multiple client accounts, leading meetings on denials, analyzing reports against benchmarks, and coordinating cross-functional POD teams.
Location: Remote opportunities available only in the following US states: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, MO, NC, NE, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA. Must be based in one of these states.

What you will do
- Serve as point of contact for customers, preparing and leading meetings to review open AR and denial mitigation plans.
- Act as expert on assigned accounts, coordinating communication between billing, posting, enrollment, and credentialing teams.
- Own incoming account-specific tickets in Salesforce, resolving issues with cross-functional teams.
- Monitor customer account health against benchmarks, delegating work to POD AR reps and coordinating huddles.
- Review A/R aging reports, file appeals, submit corrected claims, research payor rules, and interpret contracts.
- Work with compliance and customer success teams on at-risk accounts and retention strategies.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or equivalent.
- ABA billing experience.
- Minimum 2-5 years experience in billing major commercial insurance and state Medicaid programs.
- Minimum 2-7 years account management experience.
- Experience using insurance company websites/portals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Strong verbal, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, critical thinking; experience working with global employees.
Nice to have
- Speech, OT, and Mental Health billing experience.
- 3-5 years experience in office setting.
- Experience with billing software, EMR, and clearinghouse systems (Rethink, Azalea, Tebra, Waystar, Trizetto, Availity).
