Senior Engineer - Electromagnetic Simulation (ANSYS Maxwell): Lead advanced simulation efforts to study, analyze, and optimize electromechanical systems and electrical protection devices using 2D/3D finite element methods with an accent on low-frequency EM field modeling, arc flash phenomena, and coupled electromagnetic-mechanical effects. Focus on calculating magnetic/electric fields, forces, torque, capacitance, inductance, eddy currents, conducting parametric studies, design optimization, and validating results against tests.
Job location: Surrey, B.C., Canada. Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (non-BC registrations acceptable if immediately transferable).

What you will do
- Develop and execute 2D/3D electromagnetic simulations using ANSYS Maxwell for low-frequency applications.
- Model arc flash, transient EM behavior, and coupled EM-mechanical effects.
- Apply FEM to compute field distributions, forces, torque, capacitance, inductance, eddy currents, and losses.
- Perform parametric studies, design optimization, and validation with analytical/experimental data.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers on product development and troubleshooting.
- Prepare technical reports and mentor junior engineers on best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetics, Physics, or related (Bachelor’s with experience considered).
- Minimum 5 years hands-on with ANSYS Maxwell or equivalent low-frequency EM tools.
- Strong electromagnetic theory and FEA/FEM knowledge.
- Experience modeling circuit breakers, motors, actuators, transformers, EM sensors.
- Arc flash modeling, transient simulations, multi-physics coupling (EM-thermal, EM-mechanical).
- Scripting/automation (Python, MATLAB, ANSYS).
- Experience in regulated industries (power systems, industrial equipment, etc.).
