Senior Investment Associate - Corporate Debt

Location: Chicago, United States; hybrid

Salary: $150,000–$170,000 yearly, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Originate and screen corporate debt investment opportunities for client suitability.
• Lead transactions as Deal Captain, covering due diligence, credit ratings, documentation, approvals, negotiation, and closing.
• Manage existing investments through borrower reporting, rating agency reviews, waiver requests, and quarterly portfolio reviews.
• Work with colleagues in Chicago and London and collaborate with legal, credit, operations, and business management teams.
• Manage borrower, client, and other internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Research new sectors and products, support client marketing and product development, and help develop junior colleagues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in credit, investment-grade private credit, private placements, investment banking, commercial banking, leveraged lending, direct lending, high yield, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Direct experience underwriting and executing investment-grade or sub-investment-grade debt transactions.
• Deep understanding of identifying and mitigating credit risks, with strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work with, train, and lead less experienced team members.

Nice to have

• Completion of a rotational training program in commercial banking, investment banking, or a rating agency.
• CFA credential or progress toward the CFA qualification.
