TL;DR
Software Development Manager (Legal AI): Leading engineering teams to build and scale legal AI technology and SaaS products with an accent on people leadership, technical execution, and cross-functional collaboration. Location: Must be based in Canada (excluding Quebec). Hybrid work expected for those local to Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto (minimum twice per week).
Salary: $176,000 – $264,000 CAD

What you will do
- Collaborate within a triad (Designer, Product, Dev Manager) to identify business opportunities and craft the team roadmap.
- Lead the design of technical solutions and provide high-quality feedback on code reviews and architecture documents.
- Actively contribute to projects through shipping code or extensive technical reviews.
- Mentor direct reports through 1:1 meetings to support their career growth and professional development.
- Drive the hiring process to attract and retain top engineering talent.
Requirements
- Proven success in people leadership within software development, specifically for large-scale SaaS products.
- Strong background in hands-on software development and ability to solve complex technical problems.
- Must be based in Canada, excluding the province of Quebec.
- Demonstrated ability to hire, coach, and retain high-performing engineers in a fast-paced market.
- Growth mindset regarding process improvement and new technologies, especially AI.
Nice to have
- Experience with large-scale CRM products.
- Technical proficiency with Ruby on Rails or Python.
- A defined philosophy on what constitutes great software development teams.
