TL;DR

Technical Designer - CAD III (Aerospace): Creating design layouts and detailed part/assembly drawings for the Transfer Stage Vehicle within the Lunar Permanence business unit with an accent on MBD, CAD, and PLM tools. Focus on designing spacecraft primary and secondary structures, managing large CAD assemblies, and ensuring alignment with ASME Y14.5 standards.

Location: Must be based in the USA (Greater Seattle Area, Space Coast FL, Huntsville AL, Denver CO, or Los Angeles CA)

Compensation: $36.06 - $55.07 per hour

What you will do

  • Prepare design layouts, creating detailed part and assembly drawings/MBDs and releasing data sets using CAD and PLM tools.
  • Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure alignment with established specifications and standards.
  • Support engineering teams with mechanical layout and detail design for structural parts and assemblies.
  • Apply company design and drafting techniques to plan and maintain engineering design data.
  • Implement manufacturing standard methodologies to balance cost, schedule, and performance requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design.
  • 4+ years of experience in aerospace development or a similar industry.
  • Proficiency in drawing generation and release processes using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
  • Proficiency in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Experience managing large CAD assemblies, BOMs, ICMs, and skeletons.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, refugee, or granted asylum.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of proven experience.
  • Experience releasing engineering data sets using Model Based Definition (MBD).
  • Experience with material selection, compatibility, and metallic manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience designing for manufacturability.
