Senior Designer - Advanced UX Team

TL;DR

Senior Designer (Advanced UX): Develop advanced UX concepts, visual directions, and scalable design systems for next-generation in-vehicle interactions with an accent on conceptual visualization, rapid prototyping, and 2D/3D design. Focus on building low- to high-fidelity prototypes, iterating on user flows and motion behaviors, and delivering polished design assets for cross-functional collaboration.

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan – expected to report to the office three times per week. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship (H-1B, TN, STEM OPT, etc.). Relocation benefits may be eligible.

What you will do

• Develop UX concepts and visual directions using storyboards, narrative flows, and visual storytelling.
• Create scalable design systems, visual languages, and interface frameworks for cohesive solutions.
• Produce concept visuals including 2D illustrations, UI explorations, motion studies, and 3D models/animations.
• Build low- to high-fidelity prototypes to validate interactions and demonstrate feature flows.
• Iterate rapidly on user flows, interaction models, and motion behaviors based on feedback.
• Deliver polished design assets like layouts, sketches, motion graphics, and user journeys.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, product, and supplier teams, drawing inspiration from UX, mobility, gaming, and consumer tech trends.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in UX Design, Product Design, Human Interface Design, or related fields.
• Curated design portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX process, systems thinking, low-to-high fidelity prototyping, visual storytelling, narrative design, and complex interaction design.
• Expert proficiency in Figma and advanced prototyping tools (e.g., ProtoPie).

Nice to have

• Strong proficiency in Sketch, XD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator.
• Working knowledge of 3D modeling workflows.
• Experience with video editing tools (Adobe Premiere Pro or equivalent).
• Understanding of engineering and software constraints.
