What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of designers focused on system utilities and OS-level frameworks.
• Own design vision for connections, accounts, profiles, settings, controls, notifications, and virtual keyboards across GM brands.
• Define system patterns, information architecture, and interaction models for complex configuration tasks.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and platform teams to deliver scalable, reusable design solutions.
• Oversee full design lifecycle from problem framing to prototypes and specifications, ensuring usability and consistency.
• Build design guidelines, components, and documentation; champion user-centered design with research and testing.

Requirements

• 8+ years designing digital interfaces for web, mobile, or embedded platforms, with system utilities or core frameworks experience.
• Formal training or degree in Interface Design, Visual Design, Interaction Design, HCI, or related.
• Strong portfolio of end-to-end UX, interaction patterns, and visual systems for settings/controls.
• Platform-level design strategy expertise aligning with business and technical constraints.
• Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools.
• Cross-functional collaboration and leadership skills; systems thinking and communication.

Nice to have

• Experience leading 5+ designers in automotive or complex systems.
• Agile/lean environments, accessibility, inclusive design.
• Prototyping complex flows with software/hardware teams.
