Launch Quality Engineer

Launch Quality Engineer (Automotive): Support vehicle engineering in implementing Quality Requirements for launch activities at Oshawa Assembly with an accent on problem solving for build issues and maintaining Product Quality Standards. Focus on leading Diamond 4/5 processes, PFMEA development, process control plans, and supplier readiness including PPAP.

Location: Onsite in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada – report to Oshawa Assembly full-time. No immigration sponsorship.

Salary: $76,100–$114,300

What you will do

• Lead problem-solving for vehicle build issues, including Diamond 4 (part quality) and Diamond 5 (process changes).
• Develop and maintain Product Quality Standards (CVIS) and ensure integration into job element sheets (JESs).
• Support PFMEA, process control plans, error proofing, and tracking of key process characteristics (KPCs/KCCs).
• Handle repair, rework, containment, and retrofit activities for quality spills.
• Participate in supplier readiness, APQP, PPAP, and high-risk supplier reviews.
• Train teams on new parts, coach on GM Quality Manual, and audit GMS BIQ principles.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Previous Quality or Engineering experience in automotive manufacturing
• Excellent problem-solving skills (root cause, containment, long-term solutions)
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to balance technical solutions with business needs
• Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes

Nice to have

• Red X technical problem-solving experience
• Proficiency in GSIP, ECM, Excel, PRTS, SPPS, GQTS, Teamcenter, MPDs
• Knowledge of GM Quality System / GMS BIQ elements
