Focus on packaging components, balancing cost-mass-complexity-timing, developing reuse strategies, and ensuring robust system solutions.
Location: Hybrid - expected on-site at Warren Tech Center (Michigan, USA) at least 3 days per week. No relocation assistance. No immigration sponsorship (H-1B, TN, STEM OPT, etc.).

What you will do
- Lead design, development, analysis, implementation, and validation of seat subsystems using DFSS.
- Perform engineering evaluations, concept development, DFMEAs, and utilize CAE for robust designs.
- Manage CAD development with suppliers/GM designers, package components, and collaborate across vehicle systems.
- Balance business imperatives like cost, mass, complexity, timing; lead Product Development Team (PDT).
- Develop reuse strategies, reduce variants, provide design improvements for comfort and quality assembly.
- Support virtual/physical validation, benchmarking, SVI objectives, and continuous improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or Civil Engineering
- 5+ years experience developing mechanical components for vehicle programs; seat development experience
- DFSS Green Belt certification (Black Belt preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to balance cost, mass, complexity, timing
- Comfortable with multidisciplinary/cross-cultural teams and ambiguous environments
- Must be authorized to work in US without sponsorship
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving (e.g., Red-X)
- Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, GD&T
