What you will do

• Shape and lead the state-level external strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational mission and priorities.
• Manage a multi-million-dollar portfolio of state grant programs and oversee senior leaders in government relations.
• Anticipate and interpret legislative, regulatory, and policy developments to provide strategic guidance.
• Cultivate trusted relationships with state education leaders, policymakers, and nonprofit organizations.
• Build and lead national coalitions to advance shared federal and state policy agendas.
• Lead and develop a high-performing senior team through clear direction and mentorship.

Requirements

• Sustained executive-level leadership experience in large, mission-driven organizations.
• Experience within or in close partnership with a State Education Agency, including knowledge of state-level policy and political context (preferred).
• Proven ability to exhibit grounded leadership and prioritize in high-stakes, complex environments.
• Strong disciplined execution and operational rigor in navigating complex policies and constraints.
• Must be based in the USA (indicated by US-specific benefits and state agency focus).
