National Director, Organizing

National Director, Organizing (Advocacy): Develop long-term power-building infrastructure across the Federation to defend abortion access and reproductive healthcare with an accent on 50-state organizing, volunteer mobilization, and coalition formation. Focus on evolving post-Roe strategies, leading national campaigns, and providing thought leadership in the progressive movement.

Location: Hybrid in Washington, DC with 20% domestic travel required

Salary: $170,000 - $175,000 a year

What you will do

• Develop vision and plan for power-building infrastructure, including supporter leadership programs and engagement of volunteers and allies.
• Evolve organizing approaches for post-Roe landscape, integrating hyper-local and long-term campaigns.
• Lead 50-state organizing efforts, including digital, patient advocacy, youth, and constituencies programs in collaboration with local affiliates.
• Build national coalitions, manage staff, and drive volunteer recruitment and mobilization for key campaigns.
• Provide strategic thought leadership, represent organization externally, and cultivate donor relationships.
• Design training, rapid response mobilizations, and alignment tools like National Organizing Peaks chart.

Requirements

• Over 10+ years as lead organizer at state and national levels with electoral, legislative, and movement experience
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated track record in mass mobilization and base-building
• Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
• Experience supervising staff, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance
• Ability to work in federated structure with significant travel
• Commitment to gender justice and reproductive freedom
