Systems Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote or onsite in Boston, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, or New York. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.; H-1B visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Configure systems and networks and deploy bare-metal and containerized applications.
• Maintain large storage clusters and coordinate bulk data delivery to customers and vendor partners.
• Instrument performance measurement, monitoring, and alerting.
• Improve infrastructure automation, tooling, and provisioning workflows.
• Provide on-call support and perform occasional physical infrastructure deliveries and systems provisioning.

Requirements

• Strong Linux knowledge and experience with systems configuration and provisioning, including PXE, Puppet, Ansible, or Terraform.
• Understanding of RAID, LVM, common filesystems, distributed storage, networking protocols, switching, and routing.
• Ability to code in Python and write shell scripts, with a DevOps or GitOps mindset.
• Prior internship experience or at least two years in systems engineering or infrastructure roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• U.S. work authorization is required; H-1B sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ceph, database administration, cloud engineering, virtualization, or distributed compute workloads.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, or Loki for monitoring and alerting.
• Customer support experience, systems and network tuning skills, or prior experience in trading or fintech.
• Ability to travel to data centers in New Jersey or Boston on short notice, within one week.
