What you will do
- Lead experimental characterization of fluxonium qubits and processor components using quantitative modeling.
- Investigate decoherence and noise mechanisms to propose improvements in device design and cryogenic operation.
- Develop, calibrate, and validate high-fidelity single and two-qubit gates, reset, and readout protocols.
- Create and implement error mitigation and performance improvement strategies.
- Collaborate with designers on device parameter studies and simulations to improve processor performance.
- Develop Lisp software infrastructure for modeling, calibrating, and operating qubits.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in quantum computing or a related experimental field.
- At least 4 years of experience in quantum technology development.
- Expertise in superconducting devices, gate-model processor development, RF engineering, or low-noise electronics.
- Strong software development skills and familiarity with version control systems.
- Proven track record of independent research and technical leadership.
- Must be based in or able to work onsite in Burnaby, Canada.
Nice to have
- Specialized expertise in calibrating and characterizing fluxonium qubits.
- Experience with systems engineering for scalable gate-model technologies.
- Knowledge of superconducting qubit fabrication techniques.
- Familiarity with benchmarking protocols (RB, XEB, GST) and quantum error correction methods.
- Experience in cryogenic microwave engineering.
